Monday, I sat down to write a post about Ashlynn. She has thick, curly, golden, long, beautiful hair, and she hates it. She looks longingly at my hair and tells me, she wishes she flat hair like mine. She means that as a huge compliment. To Ashlynn flat hair is superior to all other types of hair. The only thing she has done with her hair the past year , is put it in a ponytail. Every once in a while she will decide to try and wear her hair down. After about an hour she will be screaming about how her hair is frizzy, or poofy, or something, and want it in a ponytail. I wanted to write about this, and the gratitude I feel that I don't have to deal with this hair drama in the morning before she hurries up to get ready for school. I don't have to endure this experience, because we homeschool. When the hair drama occurs she can go to her room, until she calms down. There is no rush to get ready. In fact, she can wear her pajamas for our school, as long as she gets her work done. I honestly don't know what I would do if I had to make sure she was ready to go to school. I do know that there is a good chance I would be a very irritable mother after dealing with that in the mornings.
I was trying to write all of this on Monday, but then Doug needed help with something. So I stopped and helped him. Then Jacob came and sat down next to me so I could read the comics from the newspaper that he thought were funny. So I stopped writing, what I had barely started. I read the comics, and laughed with Jacob. Then Ashlynn came in and starting chatting about what I can't remember now, but I thought, okay I give up. Instead Ashlynn and I talked about Webkinz and beauty and how much I love her. I am so happy that I have kids who want to spend time with me. I don't even mind, that sometimes I can't do all of the things I want to in a day. I love my family and things can wait, time together can't.

Amen! I'm with you there, sista!
It always amazes me how women with this beautiful, full hair always wish they had straight, "flat" hair. I always wanted hair like Ashlynn's and ended up wearing mine in a ponytail because it just laid flat...
Hi! Thanks for popping by my blog. It's great to find another homeschooling mom. I have another blog that I do with our homeschooling activities, although I think your kids might be much older than mine.

Get Frizz-Ease for your daughter's hair, by John Frieda. It's not too pricey and it's one of the few things that works MOST days. It does not work on really muggy, humid, wet days but then that's what happens with curls. Put a tad tiny bit (about a teaspoon) of conditioner in the bottle of Frizz-Ease to help soften the curls a bit. And tell her that my daughters (Ashlie age 8 and Jessica age 7) have straight hair and all they ask for is curls. They think curls are better than anything in the whole world.
Remind her that some people pay hundreds of dollars to get their hair to curl like hers does naturally. That helps a bit. I tell my kids how people pay tons for hair that is stick straight like theirs, and show them the products used at the store when we go.
She will probably always wish for straight hair but the beauty of that is a straightening iron can do it for her in less than half an hour, but the rest of us still have to pay dearly for curls lol.
Following you back, thanks for dropping by my blog :)

Sarah it amazes me too that Ashlynn loves flat hair. Autumn thanks for the tip. I will pick up some of that Frizz- Ease for Ashlynn to try.
